Access to a variety of health, fitness, artistic and social services Michigan State University Comptroller's Office The University recognizes that memberships in professional organizations and associations can benefit faculty and staff in carrying out their respective university responsibilities. Because of the limited resources to carry out the University's mission, there are no funds available to pay for all the numerous and diverse membership fees. In view of the above, one of the following criteria must be met before membership fees to professional organizations or associations are processed for payment by means of a purchase card or disbursement voucher (including reimbursement to employees). In all cases, with institutional or individual memberships, membership payment must be backed by a valid business purpose, in accordance with the missions of the MSU and the department.
The MSU, with its limited resources to carry out the mission of the University, recognizes that membership of the University Club for official affairs can benefit departments in the performance of their respective university responsibilities. As a result, the University Club membership for “MSU Official Business Only” (“OBO”) is now available to allow qualified MSU faculty and staff to use the Club full time for official MSU business only. Payments for “OBO” memberships must be made in an electronic document on internal billing. All charges incurred by “OBO” memberships must be related solely to the company, specify the business purpose of each business transaction, and be processed in internal billing.
